We regret to announce the death of Daniel Fraissard from COVID-19 at the age of 73. He had retired in 2012.

Daniel arrived at CERN in 1974 as a mechanical technician and was appointed as a staff member in 1978. He participated in the development and construction of the wire detectors for UA-1 and subsequently of the Cherenkov detectors for DELPHI and ALICE. Highly-skilled and meticulous, he was an excellent mechanical engineer who was always ready to step in to ensure that difficult projects were brought to fruition. He was a friendly and open person who always fitted in well within the experimental groups. His personality made a lasting impact on all those who met him.

We send our sincere condolences to his wife and family.
