KT and Detector Seminar on 1 September: detector technology innovations in medical X-ray imaging

Find out more about cutting-edge detector technologies and their impact on future commercial devices at the upcoming joint Knowledge Transfer and Detector seminar

X-ray imaging techniques play a central role in medical care. Whether trauma diagnosis or cancer detection, X-ray imaging can guide physicians through surgical operations, radiotherapy and medical follow-up after disease treatment. In this presentation, we will give an overview of the clinical applications and resulting requirements for X-ray imaging.

We will put a special spotlight on innovative detector technologies and detection methods with the potential for future use in commercial devices, such as the recently released photon-counting technology for computed tomography (CT).

This seminar will be given by CERN alumnus Dr Steffen Kappler, Senior Principal Scientist and Head of Technology and Innovation for X-ray Products at Siemens Healthineers.

Dr Kappler is a leading expert in medical imaging R&D. He is the author of many publications, holds numerous patents and was awarded the Siemens Inventor of the Year prize in 2015 for his achievements in the field of photon-counting computed tomography.

You are warmly invited to join this discussion in person at CERN or on Zoom.
